Protecting the gear..
Thought it was about timeĀ got a decent case to pack up the gear in – something about carrying stuff around in a pile of loose fitting bags and boxes does my head – especially when we are talking about a significant value of equipment. So I went out to get a decent case for the VCM600 and APC40.
Now, to start, Vestax, why the hell do you have to make a project that sits just outside the industry standard sizing of 19 inches, or the width of a turntable? I have a couple of spare 1200 cases – but no, you had to go make the thing just a tiny bit to big to fit it in. Yesh.
Anyhow – I had my eye on the Pelican cases – they seem to get a good review – but they also carry a hell of a price with them.
Off to go and speak to David and the folk at A2Z Technologies to see what we could find. After a bit of a catch up, David got very excited and showed me his handy piece of cardboad – that essentially show the dimensions of all the cases that they have available. In the end, the Nanuk 945 case is the one I went with.
So, I got it home, and started trying to find the way to fit everything in the best. Of course, within 30 seconds I have totally butchered the foam that came with it, and had to go get some more – one trip to Para-Rubber and $70 later, and we were nearly there.
Well happy with it. I can fit the VCM600, APC40 and stand in it, with a bit of room to spare.
